Electric wax warmers have greatly risen in popularity in the last couple of years. This can be attributed to several factors including being safer, easy to replace scents, and producing more light. As candles were banned in my dorm room in college, these wax warmers were the perfect alternative for ridding that room of foul scents, which there were plenty of. You can find these warmers and wax for them in many candle stores.
Although they are quite popular, there are still some features that some of these have that people are unaware of. For instance, some just turn on and off with a switch, while others have a heat control slider or a light. There are also a variety of unique designs, such as different animals, that gives your warmer a distinct quality.
This list is ranked in no specific order, as the best one will be completely up to you, given what you are looking for in a wax warmer. I included a wide variety of different warmers, based on their features, design, and company. Candle Warmer’s Etc. by far has the most variety and amount of warmers and I could've made a list entirely from their products exclusively. However, I want you to see an array of other companies as well.
In the title of each product, there is a link for the best place to purchase these warmers for the lowest price. Before getting into the list, I will briefly discuss the difference of a tart warmer and a candle warmer.
Both tart and traditional candle warmers are on this list, as they are both electric wax warmers. However, there is a major difference in the two. A candle warmer (pictured above right) does exactly what the name implies it does, warm any candle you have, to melt the wax and provide a smooth, consistent aroma. This would work great with all of our candles.
A tart warmer (pictured above lefts) melts 'tart' that you place on the hot plate and melts it to provide its scent. If you are unfamiliar with the phrase tart that's ok. Tart is simply just a small piece of wax, usually cut in the shape of a square, infused together with any aroma. They are super easy to use and can be found in many places, even Walmart.
So, now you know the difference between these two different types of electric warmers, so keep that in mind when looking through the list. You will usually be able to tell which one it is by the title, but if not read the descriptions I give for each warmer.
Now that I have provided some introductory information about these products, let's just jump into this list.

Now, you may be asking why I included this one on the list. There aren't any unique features or designs, as it looks fairly plain. However, it is the one warmer on this list that is versatile in respect to it being a candle or tart warmer; it is both! This ingenuitive design allows you to place a candle on the plate, as the surface is large enough to support a candle of almost any size. Unlike most candle warmers, it has built up edges along the side, which is what you need for a tart warmer so the wax won't ooze out the sides.
Therefore, if you aren't sure exactly what type of electric warmer to get, or you want the ability to do both, this one is perfect for you!
I know that this may seem like a very basic warmer, and that is because it is. There aren't any special features with it, it just happens to be the first candle warmer to come out. Although there may be some on this list that has higher performance or more features, this original from one of the best companies is a great deal for its price and is very efficient.
Glade's ceramic wax warmer is a perfect basic warmer that looks nice and will do the job. There aren't any bells or whistles so to speak with this product, it will just do its job efficiently.
Technically, Glade tells you to only use their wax, but you can definitely use any other tart of your choosing. You may want to try the Glade wax regardless, as they are designed specifically for this product, and are available in 13 great fragrances, all which are derived from essential oils. One of their wax squares is guaranteed to last 16 hours, which is better than most competitors.
If you are going for a futuristic or high technological look, this candle warmer is for you. While traditional warmers are usually made from ceramics and have intricate designs built into them, this one is the complete opposite. It is made from plastic and looks different than any other product on this list.
Another unique feature about it is the blue halo LED lights that surround the base of the candle. It gives the warmer a nice feature of providing a light as well as beautiful scents.
AmbiEscents is another company that makes great warmers, and this is by far my favorite of theirs. While every other wax warmer on this list has a cord that plugs into the wall for power, this one plugs directly into a power socket. It also features a unique shield with a beautiful design that makes this double as a warmer and a nightlight.
Another great product from Candle Warmers Etc., this warmer for candles is designed as a lamp. It not only looks like a lamp but is, in fact, an actually fully functional lamp that also happens to heat your candles. It is a great two-in-one device that looks great and comes in a variety of colors.
Different in design than most, the Gigi offers several state-of-the-art features that make it one of the most popular tart warmers. While most warmers are completely open with no top, the Gigi has a glass top and secretes the aroma from a side panel. The glass is see through, meaning you can verify that is wax is melting at an appropriate rate.
My favorite feature of this warmer is a temperature control lever with, low, medium, and high as the settings. Most warmers only have an 'on' or 'off' switch, making it impossible for you to set the strength of the melter. This is all made possible from the Gigi.
Perfect for Halloween or just unique in general, this smaller sized warmer is a black skull, with the wax being placed in a bowl on the top. Another neat part of the design is that the eyes are open, which beams the light from the inside. Other than that, the features are standard, as you are going to purchase it for the design strictly.
This beautifully crafted candle warmer is as much art as it is a device to freshen up the air in your home. You may notice that it is one of the more expensive products on the list, and that is because it is made from very high-quality ceramics. Most warmers that are made from ceramics are cheap and not nearly as nice. So, if you don't mind spending a couple of extra bucks, this piece will definitely look nice no matter where you put it.
As you can tell, there are a lot of options out there when it comes to choosing a wax melter for your home. I hope I gave you all the information you needed to make a decision on what is best for you. The ideal one will be different for everyone based on what they want, so I didn't put these in any specific order. If you specify exactly what you want in a warmer, I am positive you will be able to find one in this article that perfectly matches that.
Before buying one, decide which type you want. A tart warmer makes it possible for you to have various scents at any time, not just being stuck with the exact same smell. Or, a traditional candle warmer, that safely heats the candle from the bottom up and gives a more consistent, beautiful aroma. Whatever your choice is, I am sure you will make the best one for yourself.
